Review: “Baby It’s Cold Outside” anthology from Entangled Publishing

Dec 24

BICO picTitle: Baby It’s Cold Outside

Authors: Kate Hardy, Heidi Rice, Amy Andrews and Aimee Carson,

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher: Entangled Publishing

Publication date: November 19, 2012

Review: “Baby It’s Cold Outside” is a wonderful compilation of sexy love stories set in the holiday season. Treat yourself and get a copy to read during your ‘me time’ this Christmas. 🙂

Since these are short stories, I don’t want to give away too much here, lest I spoil the stories for you. 🙂  (Click on red links to purchase)

STAR-5There’s a Scrooge-type character in Kate Hardy‘s novella; ‘TIS THE SEASON TO KISS SANTA, whose journey to love begins when he reluctantly agrees to play Santa at a children’s hospice. That’s where Mitch meets Ellie, a pastry chef who’d rather spend Christmas in the US than back home in the UK, where she would be reminded of her newly single status. When a blizzard traps Mitch with Emily at her aunt’s home, their attraction to each other ignites.

In ‘TIS THE SEASON TO GO SHOPPING by Heidi Rice, British transplant to New York, Kate Braithwaite, gets a break-up email from her boyfriend Benedict. Apt name huh? A blessing in disguise, I’d say, since Kate is now free to enjoy a night of passion with Ryder Sinclair after they become trapped in his father’s department store. How they meet is hilarious – Kate is wearing a very short leprechaun dress and Ryder think’s she’s a thief.

Things start off on a tipsy, headed-toward-drunk, note for Tamara in Amy Andrews’ ‘TIS THE SEASON FOR KISSING. It’s 9 am in Vermont and Tamara is lying on a couch in her friend’s cabin when she hear’s the sound of someone stamping their feet on the porch. Fearing a thief, she grabs a golf club, prepared to face the intruder…only it’s her best friend’s brother, Sergeant Luke Jackson. He goes into combat mode and next thing Tamara knows, she’s pinned to the floor. So begins this couple’s hot journey to love. Nothing boring here! 🙂

BICO antho pic‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE TEMPTED by Aimee Carson wraps things up with friends turned lovers. Investment advisor Wes Campbell and his best friend’s “free spirited” little sister, music manager Evie Lee Burling haven’t seen each other in years. They go from trading ‘zingers’ to kisses after spending three hours on a flight during which a tipsy Evie talks about orgasms with Wes, rather than think about her fear of flying.

Synopsis: When a freak blizzard hits America’s Eastern seaboard, four pairs of strangers spend a hot night together one cold Christmas season!

With the help of a sprig of mistletoe and some snow angels, a recently single pastry chef teaches a highly successful and sexy Scrooge the true meaning of the holidays on a snowy Christmas Eve that quickly heats up.

When a Christmas Day blizzard strands an up-and-coming marketing manager and her boss’s very off-limits, very hot playboy son in his department store, the two toe the line between naughty and nice as they unwrap their holiday presents—and each other!

A down-on-her-romantic-luck kindergarten teacher plans to drown her New Year’s Eve sorrows in a gallon of spiked eggnog, but the arrival of her best friend’s sexy brother threatens to melt the snow piling up outside the tiny Vermont cabin.

After the worst year ever, a jilted music manager rings in the New Year alone, swearing off men forever. But things get complicated when her brother’s best friend, the perfect man with the perfect body, tempts her to break her vow—if only for one hot night!

Beyond The Page: “Secret Santa Baby” by Robin Covington

Dec 21

Secret Santa Baby picIt’s the Friday before Christmas and the lovely Robin Covington is here to discuss her second book – “Secret Santa Baby” from Entangled Publishing.

CABR: Welcome back to Caribbean Accent Book Reviews Robin. 😀

RC: Thank you! It’s great to be back!

CABR: What’s your favourite scene in Secret Santa Baby and why?

RC: I think my favorite scene is when Nick serenades Tessa at the office holiday party. He’s conservative, reserved…he’s British. So, it is absolutely the one thing you would never expect him to do.  I loved writing that scene!

(Red text are Info/BUY Links)

CABR: I understand the game Secret Santa is big at your day job. Did any funny or odd gifts from that inspire one in “SSB”?

RC: No – the big gifts at my office party are Snuggies (ugh), giftcards, and booze – pretty mundane stuff.  The gifts in SSB are more sentimental, romantic and personalized. Nick definitely put a lot of thought into what he gave to Tessa – they were all from the heart.

CABR: Aww – gifts from the heart. After hearing about Entangled Publishing’s call for short stories inspired by the song ‘Santa Baby’, did Nick or Tessa ‘pop’ into your head, demanding their story be told?

RCRC: Yes, they did.  I love the song and when I saw the call the Secret Santa game immediately jumped into my mind.

What if someone used the Secret Santa game to seduce the woman of his dreams by giving her the gifts in the song?

I knew that the hero , Nick, was someone who didn’t bend the rules normally, but for this he was going to go all out.

CABR: This is your first novella correct? Can we expect more from you in the coming months or are you back to work on ‘The Boys’ from the Southern series (“A Night of Southern Comfort“)?

ENTER the GIVEAWAY here >>a Rafflecopter giveaway<<

RC: Yes, it is.  I loved writing it and I think I will do more in the future. I’m tossing around some ideas about a series of novellas based around an exclusive boarding school. We’ll see . . .  I am finishing a super sexy story for the Brazen line at Entangled (the hero is an action movie star-swoon) and then I finish Teague’s story for the The Boys series.  His life is taking some unexpected turns . . . poor Teague.

CABR: I bet Teague’s story will be well worth the wait. 🙂 What’s your favourite part about Christmas/the holidays?

RC: My favorite part is the decorations at my house. I have three Christmas trees, garland and white lights everywhere. It looks like a Christmas fairyland in every room – so romantic too!

Secret Santa Baby picBlurb for Secret Santa Baby

Tessa Stoneman hasn’t been able to get long-time friend and business partner Nicholas Boone out of her head since they shared a single kiss in college. Even when she dated Nicholas’s best friend. Now that she’s giving up her position at GameNerdz to strike out on her own—and now that she’s single—maybe it’s the right time to see if there’s still something between them.

Nicholas knows once Tessa leaves the company she helped found, they might drift apart. Before she starts her own company in the new year, he wants to woo the woman he fell in love with during college. So he poses as her Secret Santa, gifts her with items from the song “Santa Baby,” and plans a big reveal at the company holiday party.
