If you had to describe your book, ONCE IS NEVER ENOUGH, to someone on Twitter, what would you say?

LOL, Okay, so in 140 characters or less? It’s a flirty, sexy, fun, #Lovers2Friends2Lovers #MistakenIdentity #1Night2SomethingMore #BFF’sBrother #RecoveringBadBoy #ContRom 🙂

What inspired the plot in this book?

I’ve always been a sucker for friends-to-lovers stories—probably because it’s one of the themes in my own HEA, and I know firsthand what it’s like to risk an incredible friendship for the potential of something more. It’s hard to do! Even more so when the risk extends to the dynamic of a whole group of friends.

And that was the idea I was playing with when I started ONCE IS NEVER ENOUGH.

What if this hero and heroine came together unaware of the connection they already shared—one that was going to throw them together again and again? In OINE, that connection is Maeve, Garrett’s little sister and Nichole’s best friend. She’s the relationship they don’t want to risk, the reason they become friends, and the excuse they have to stop using when the chemistry between them proves too hot to fight!

Tell us about your favourite scene to write?

My favorite scene to write…just one??

But there were SO MANY scenes where I was giggling or cackling or tearing up at my keyboard as I hammered them out.

Okay… what if I pick just… two, lol?? (Sheesh, and normally I’m such a rule follower!)

First, the opening scene to the story with Nichole and Maeve at lunch…

“So you take your reckless adventuring like you take your coffee: lukewarm and watered down?”

Nichole Daniels stared first at the shu mai being jabbed in dumpling accusation from across their small table, and then at the gleaming blue eyes centering her best friend’s face beyond. “Hypothetical reckless adventuring. And, for clarification, I want to enjoy my coffee. Not get hurt by it. So I take it hot, but not scalding. I like it brewed strong, but cut with something creamy to avoid heartburn.”

Maeve snorted. “You cut it with skim milk. Cripes! The whole point of this was to embrace the no-consequences element of a fantasy we weren’t planning to live out. I mean, seriously, I don’t want to be trapped on a deserted island at all. And if I actually was, I’d hope it would be with some kind of mechanical genius who played survival games of the non-cannibal variety in his spare time. But for the purpose of this chatty lunchtime game girlfriends play…in a context separate from reality…for one single night without consequences maybe you’d want something robust…rich… Oh, my God…something topped with whipped cream!”

“Enough, enough.” Nichole laughed, cutting into Maeve’s ramping excitement before the whole restaurant started staring at them. “I get the concept. Honestly, I’m just not interested.”

Maeve narrowed her eyes. “It’s a fantasy. How can you not be interested?”

Echoes of a distant conversation teased through Nichole’s mind—accusations and blame, heartbreak and humiliation, and the fantasy she’d bet her future on revealed for the nightmare it was. Everything she’d lost. Everyone.

She’d been down that road. Twice already. No thanks for a third.

It didn’t pay to pretend. Not even over a dim sum lunch with her best friend.

“I’m just not,” she managed through a stiff smile.

“Hence your overnight-on-a-deserted-island order for a male of unspecified looks who’s safe, honest and can keep up his end of a conversation.” Another jab of the chopsticks. “Lame.”

“Not lame. Maybe my reality is everything I want it to be. How about that? I’ve got a kickass career, a button-cute place in a cool neighborhood and the greatest friends in the world,” she said, batting her eyes at the best of them. “What more could a girl ask for?”

“Do you want me to start down at the toes or up at the head… Or should I just start in the middle, ’cause that region might make my point a little faster.”

“None of the above! Now, stop taunting me with your dumpling or I’m going to eat it.”

Maeve snapped her chopsticks back, popping the shrimp bundle into her mouth with a grin. On finishing the bite, though, her look became more contemplative than teasing. “I’m serious, Nikki. It’s been three years. Don’t you ever get lonely?”

Nichole stared back, the word no poised on her tongue. Only as the seconds stretched, the single word that was the lie she’d been telling herself for all too long suddenly wouldn’t form.

And my second favourite scene – after fighting an overwhelming chemistry for weeks, Garrett’s restraint has just snapped…

Another whimper. Another reckless pant of his name.

Another thrust of his tongue into her waiting mouth.

All that mattered was this. More. Easing the almost painful clench of need so deep inside her.

And then the hand in her hair slipped free. Her head came up and in a daze she met the blue flame of Garrett’s eyes…tried to close the distance between them he had opened. She reached for his shoulder, his hair. Leaned in to his kiss, getting less than a taste before he broke away again.

Too much. She’d gone too far again. Gotten carried away—

Except he had her hand in his. The muscle in his jaw was jumping as he raked his other hand through the hair that was standing up in a guilty mess. “There’s got to be a back way out of here. Let’s go. I think I can make it to my car.”

The haze of arousal cleared further and Nichole looked around, stunned to find herself in this state of reckless abandon in the back hall of a coffee house. Oh, God. Mistake!

“Garrett, I can’t.”

He nodded, shoved his hand through his hair again and then grabbed her hips and lifted her up against him in a move so swift and deft she had her legs wrapped around his waist before she’d even realized what was happening.

No, this she had to stop—and fast. Because Garrett was carrying her up the last stairs, groaning some kind of agreement that neither could he. And then her back was against the wall and his hips were rocking against the needy spot between her legs that made her stupid in ways she could never have imagined prior to meeting him.

“Garrett,” she gasped when his mouth closed over her neck.

And that totally hadn’t come out the way it had been supposed to. But before she could even think about where she’d gone wrong with that one single critical word, the sensual, disorienting fog was descending again. Rolling in thicker with each flick of his tongue…

If your were offered a TV or movie deal, which would you choose and why? Who would play your characters?

Movie, because I love the HEA resolution at the end. I love a good TV series (Lost, Friends, and The Walking Dead are among my faves), but when it comes to romance…I want the complete package in one sitting, and I’d like it wrapped up with a spectacular bow please!

SOooo… Henry Cavill would play Garrett—who’s got a sexy mess of dark brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes and is built like he pounds rocks for a living…because, before he took over the company, he did 🙂

And Amy Andrews would play Nichole. I KNOW it’s a rip from the casting of MAN OF STEEL (which I can’t wait to see, BTW!) but it’s just so perfect! Amy Andrews has that gorgeous spill of red hair and that girl-next-door smile and… really, they would be a perfect fit, lol!

Pantser or plotter?

Sort of a frustrating, unreliable combination of both, lol.

Chocolate or fruits?

Chocolate. Always.

Ideal getaway?

I’ve got about a trillion getaway fantasies, lol, and anyone who catches my “wish-I-was-writing-from-here” Facebook posts, knows they vary widely. But with my Chicago set story fresh on the shelves and in my mind, I’ve been wishing for a weekend there with my husband (kids can come next time, lol!).

The ideal plan: bike the Lakefront in the AM, a little shopping and gallery walking in the afternoon, followed by drinks and dinner with my family (who still live there) at some swank Chicago hot spot I’ve never been to before 🙂

If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Brad Pitt. Because I totally think it could work between us!!

OINE coverBlurb:

She’s going to do this. She’s really going to do this!

Nichole Daniels has had her share of heartbreak. Two broken engagements and a single bed are proof of that. But when a blue-eyed stranger offers her a taste of her every nighttime fantasy, she’s considering putting an end to her dry spell!

Garrett Carter’s reputation as a ladies’ man…? Absolutely right. A danger to her mental health…? Definitely. The man for her…? Not on your life. Nichole has no intention of getting involved with a man known to be able to whisper almost any woman into bed! But something tells her that, when it comes to Garrett, one night will never be enough….
