Five Sensual Kisses from His Passion, Her Temptation

I’m very excited about my new release, His Passion, Her Temptation, which is the fourth book in the Dominating BDSM Billionaires Series.

His Need, Her Desire (Book 1) is currently free at most online retailers. His Desire, Her Surrender (Book 2) hit bestseller lists in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Her Wish, His Command (Book 3) released in June.

Today I thought I would share five kissing snippets from the book. Here they are!

1.  Monica pulled his face down to hers and kissed him. “I want you, too. I don’t want to wait.” She laughed lightly. “I don’t think I can.”

2.  Ben seized her mouth, his tongue outlining her lips before delving inside. Monica opened to him in every way. Her tongue stroked his as her hands roamed the bunching muscles of his back.

3.  Their lips met hungrily, tongues touching. Monica couldn’t get close enough. She wanted to absorb him into her.

4.  Ben lifted her leg in the air and, bending forward, placed his tongue on the back of her thigh. He left a wet stripe on her skin as he licked up to her knee. When he reached the designated spot, Ben blew a breath against her delicate skin, raising gooseflesh. He fixed his lips to the back of her knee and sucked lightly.

5.  Ben kissed her back as pedestrians passed by. He kissed her with every bit of want he possessed. His tongue penetrated her mouth and then he pulled back, placing a light butterfly kiss on each eyelid.

Granger Pharma executive Monica Granger is hiding her relationship from her family. She has to. Her lover is the son of her father’s biggest business rival. Ben Coron is more than Monica can resist; he’s everything she’s ever wanted—including dominant in bed.

But when Coron Health makes a play for Granger Pharma, Monica’s relationship—and her life—blow wide open. She loses her job, and her family rejects her. Someone’s stealing Granger’s vital trade secrets, and worse, Monica’s brother is dodging attempts on his life.

Their passion is too strong to keep Monica and Ben apart for long. They must thwart the takeover and heal the rift between their families. If they don’t, they’ll never trust one another enough to pursue the dominance and submission they both need.

“So, do you want to eat now … or later?” Monica’s smile turned seductive.

“Well, I think I might need you first.” His hand reached to touch the silkiness of her hair.

“I agree. Food can wait.” Monica pulled his head down and kissed him, greedy to taste his lips.

Without breaking the kiss, Ben guided her out of the hallway into the living room.

Monica slipped her finger under the edge of his collar. “You know, it doesn’t seem fair that you get to call all the shots.”

“Oh? I call all the shots?” Ben’s hands roamed to her rear and squeezed.

“Yes … you decide when and how …” Monica licked the edge of his lip.

“One, that isn’t quite true, and two, I haven’t heard you complaining.” He gave her a playful pinch on the ass.

“Oh no, I’m not complaining.” Her hand moved to the front of his pants, cupping him.

“Then what?” His hands slid down to the back of her thighs.

“I thought it might be fun to … try a little something else.” She rubbed him through the fabric of his pants.

“What did you have in mind?” Ben swept his hands up her back and tangled his fingers in her hair.

Monica tilted her head back. “Do you recall that night before I left for Hawaii?”

“I do believe it is burned into my memory.”

“Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t be interesting to reverse things.” Monica observed his face for a reaction.

“Reverse things?”

“Oh yes.” Her finger laid a trail down the front of his chest. “You,” she poked him gently, “would do as I say.”

“I see. Are you finding you have a dominant streak?” he teased.

“I’m not sure, but I have a desire to find out.” The thought of taking charge appealed to Monica, not all the time, but perhaps occasionally.

Ben smiled. “That sounds … enticing.”

“I hoped you’d think so.” Monica walked around him, patting his ass with her palm.

“How would you start?”

“I’d tell you to disrobe for my viewing pleasure.” Monica enjoyed looking at the hard planes of Ben’s body, so different from her own curves.

“Shall I?”

“Oh, yes.” Monica crossed the few steps to the seating area and settled herself into an upholstered chair.

Ben approached Monica and then turned his back toward her. He loosened his tie and pulled it free, tossing it over his shoulder in Monica’s direction before unbuttoning his shirt and letting the fabric fall to the floor. He turned slightly and caught her eye. Monica flushed under his wicked gaze.

Excerpt & Giveaway: “Shayla’s Story” by Beverly Preston

Jul 17

Shayla's Story cover

Today on CABR I have an excerpt for you from Beverly Preston’s new novel, SHAYLA’S STORY, book 2 in the Mathews/Clemmins Family Series.

Be sure to enter the Giveaway below for your chance to win an eBook copy of SHAYLA’S STORY 🙂

~ People come into your life for a Reason, a Season or a Lifetime ~

A Reason…

Questioning her relationship with a man who worships politics more than her, Shayla Clemmins escapes reality for the seductive sunsets of Greece. There she finds exactly what she didn’t know was missing from her life, but fears she’ll lose him to her past.

A Season…

John Mathews works hard and plays even harder. When he finds a new passion in the sensual warmth of Greece, he discovers that one lust-filled weekend of romance is just not enough.

A Lifetime…

With Shayla’s past catching up to her and an anonymous threat to her future, can she and John make a lifetime together?

Shayla's Story coverEXCERPT:

The unusually warm weather made for the perfect day for exploring. Tracy and JC talked nonstop on the short drive toward the village. They’d traveled to Greece over the summer and shared everything they loved and learned about the Greek culture, architecture, and mythical history.

Shayla stopped at an overlook where a group of locals gathered at a cliff top.

JC squealed with delight, bolting down the path, not bothering to wait for anyone else. The only words Shayla could make out were Greek gods.

“Greek gods?” Shayla inquired, heading down a narrow path etched along the cliff.

Tracy rolled her eyes. “Our little sister is boy crazy.”

“Oh,” Shayla managed.

“She doesn’t have a lot of boyfriends,” Tracy clarified, sounding as if she didn’t want to give the assumption that her sister was easy. “She just—”

“Flirts.” John darted an unhappy stare toward JC and a group of four healthy good looking young men.

“I’d say flirting runs in the family.” Shayla snickered under her breath. Charm and arrogance ran ramped in her line of work, and John Mathews reeked of it.

“Ha!” Tracy lifted her hand for a high-five. “She’s got your number, brother.”

He scoffed, throwing his head back with an eye roll. A sexy laugh filled with playful arrogance escaped him. “Not yet she doesn’t.”

Shayla flushed and for a moment forgot how to breathe. She swallowed. “I don’t need to find you a pair of boxing gloves, do I?” she chided.

“Only if you want to take me on.”

Guest Post & $15 Gift Card Giveaway: “Bonded by Blood” by Arial Burnz

Jul 16

(Read an excerpt from Midnight Conquest and Midnight Captive below)

How to Kill a Vampire – Arial-Style

I’m happy to be here to chat about the paranormal and my vampire series. Thanks so much for having me on your blog, Sasha!! 😀

(Glad to be part of your tour Arial 🙂 )

In crafting my vampire lore for my Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles, I wanted to stick with tradition – vampires afraid of crosses and holy water, etc but I wanted to put a twist on the old ideas.

I needed to establish two things: How to protect oneself against vampires and how to kill them.

Let’s talk protection. No, no, not THAT kind of protection. The supernatural kind. I wanted something unique and not easily accessible to everyone, so I created an ancient Hebrew incantation.

This is primarily used by the members of an elite religious order of priests and nuns – the Tzava Ha’or, Hebrew for the Army of Light – featured in my series to be the “balance” for the Vamsyrians.

Saying the incantation creates a ward of protection or cleansing, and can be
recited over an object (e.g., cross, water) or property (making it “holy ground”).

And when that ward of protection is put over a house, the vampire can’t cross the threshold unless the person who put up the ward takes it down, thereby – you guessed it – giving the vampire permission into the home, or “inviting” them inside.

MC cover

My intention was to craft something that could easily morph over the centuries into the myth that a priest could say a simple blessing over a cross or water, making it holy and therefore be used as a defense against vampires.”

But the “truth” is it has to be the Hebrew incantation, not just the usual Latin we see in the movies of In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Now, to kill them. Based on some of the “laws” I’d established regarding how Vamsyrians were created and the physics behind them, the wooden stake through the heart wasn’t working for me.

I needed a real reason as to why a certain type of wood had to work, and my research turned up nothing. Since werewolves were harmed by silver, and that DID give me better results in my research, I elected to go with that.

In short, there’s Biblical backing by way of a couple of Bible verses (nice way to put my 6,800 hours of Bible study to use).

My biggest problem with using silver, however, turned out to be the ability to forge the incredibly soft metal into a viable weapon. The series starts in the early 1500s of Scotland – a time where guns weren’t commonplace. So the silver bullet was not an option.

If you forge a sword or spike out of silver, you could literally bend it with your bare hands without a problem.

Ooops! Luckily, I found a person who is an expert at forging weapons. He not only told me about the options available to incorporate silver into a formidable blade, I learned about Wootz metal (a.k.a. Damascus steel) and that I could plate the weapons with silver. Tah-dah!

Amazing weapons, by the way. Damascus is some of the strongest steel known to man and decorative, artistic blades have been forged from it. Be sure to look up “wootz steel” in your favorite search engine.

I will be available throughout the day to answer questions. And if anyone leaves a comment or questions for any of my characters, I’m sure they’d answer. Broderick and Angus have been known to make appearances! Be forewarned…they’re real rogues!

Sasha, thanks again for having me as a guest on this tour! It was a pleasure being here.

(Feel free to drop by CABR anytime Arial )

Arial will be awarding a $15 Amazon or Barnes & Noble Gift Card (winner’s choice) to a randomly drawn commenter during this tour and her NBtM Tour.

Also, at every stop a randomly drawn commenter will be awarded a 5-Star Short Story eBook, Romance Trading Card set & signed Bonded By Blood series post card.

Goddess Fish Promotions Large Image.

Masked in a Gypsy guise, Broderick MacDougal hides his vampiric identity while seeking to destroy the man who slaughtered his family. When an old Clan rival ensnares Broderick in a trap using an enticing widow, he is compelled to discover if she is bait or an accomplice, and the cinnamon-haired beauty is his next conquest.

Widow of an abusive husband, Davina Stewart-Russell clings to the only image that gave her strength during those dark times—the Gypsy rogue who stole her heart as a youth. After nine years, she is finally face-to-face with him again, but reality clashes with fantasy as she is confronted with Broderick’s passionate pursuit.

When Davina’s past returns to haunt her, Broderick is forced to reveal a dark secret worse than anything Davina thought possible. The challenge before them has fatal risks and neither of them is prepared for the sacrifices expected for the sake of eternal love.

Reader Advisory: This story contains explicit love scenes, described using graphic and direct language. This story also contains explicit, nail-biting scenes of violence and domestic abuse. (Don’t worry…the bad guys get it in the end!)

EXCERPT from Midnight Conquest:

Seeing the erotic images she entertained in her mind, mimicking his dream, was his undoing.

With a groan, he dashed around the table, and before she could gather her wits, he pulled
her to her feet, wrapping her in his embrace and crushing her arms between them. Davina’s
hands upon his chest spread warmth over his body. The wild thumping of his heart beneath her palms matched her own heart’s cadence, pounding in his ears. Davina stared up at him with parted lips, full and tempting, begging to be tasted, and his mouth descended upon hers. With a dexterity that surprised him, she dodged him.

Amusement played havoc with his features and he eased the tension of his embrace just enough to allow Davina some breathing room. His voice purred, “Stop? You are ripe and ready, lass. What say we indulge in each other in a more private atmosphere?”

Davina stepped out of his embrace and cracked her hand against his cheek.

“What in—” Broderick’s brow scrunched in confusion, and then smoothed as he tipped his head back and hearty laughter poured out of his mouth, his fists planted on his hips. Oh, I like her!

MC coverBlurb:

Cailin MacDougal has lived a dangerous life being the adopted daughter of vampire Broderick “Rick” MacDougal, so she had no choice but to learn to fight in order to protect herself. However, such behavior is hardly desirable in a dutiful wife who’s supposed to embroider and run a household. This aggressive side of her behavior should be easy enough to hide from her betrothed…shouldn’t it?

After being away at fencing school for seven years, James Knightly has returned as a master swordsman, ready to captain his own ship and finally wed his childhood sweetheart, Cailin MacDougal. What he finds waiting for him is a dagger-toting hellion for a bride, an immortal father-in-law, and an enemy bent on extracting revenge by threatening the family James holds most dear–the MacDougals.

Broderick MacDougal is lured away from his family with the promise of-at last-learning a way to protect those he loves from his clan enemy, Angus Campbell. Broderick knows he’s headed for a trap, but the bait is too tempting to resist…and he unravels the beginning of a prophecy that will lead to redemption for all vampires. The cost of such redemption, though, may be the very soul of the woman he would die for…his wife, Davina.

Reader Advisory: This story contains some explicit love scenes, described using graphic and direct language. This story also contains explicit, nail-biting scenes of violence and sword fights.

EXCERPT from Midnight Captive:

Sliding up beside Cailin, James touched her elbow to catch her attention. She twirled to face him with that heart-breaking grin. The smile faltered when she saw who addressed her, fading to a memory on her full lips.

James stepped closer and pressed his mouth to her ear. “Your smile is more radiant than a sunset over the North Sea.” He pulled back to gaze into her cerulean eyes. “Pray do not let it diminish in my presence.”

Her lips parted in surprise and the doe eyes of the young girl he’d once known stared up at him. The grin returned and she gave him a saucy bump with her hip. “It seems school taught you to use more than blades, Master James. Such a silver tongue you wield to coax a smile from me!”

Thankfully, she wheeled away before he could remark about what else he would coax from her with his tongue.

Beyond The Page & $10 GC Giveaway: “The Cowboy Next Door” by Marin Thomas

Jul 15

The Cowboy Next Door

Welcome back to CABR, Marin 🙂

Hi Sasha! Thanks for having me on the blog today—I’m excited to be here!

What inspired you to write about a cowboy falling for a bull-riding cowgirl, who also happens to be his little sister’s best friend?

I knew as soon as I came up with the idea for the final three books in my Rodeo Rebels series, featuring women’s roughstock events that a secondary character in the books, Shannon Douglas, needed her own story.  What I didn’t know until I was writing A Cowboy’s Duty (Aug 2012) was that the heroine’s brother in that book would make the perfect hero for Shannon.

Tell us about your favourite scene in THE COWBOY NEXT DOOR

One of my favorite scenes is in chapter 4, when Johnny Cash and Shannon’s rodeo partner, C.J. Rodriguez square off.  As you can imagine with a name like Johnny Cash, the poor guy receives his fair share of teasing.  When Shannon’s rodeo partner makes fun of his name it hits a nerve and a scuffle breaks out.  This fight makes Johnny admit he has feelings for Shannon and he’s in big trouble because in his mind there are too many reasons they  can’t be together.

“Better hold tight, Douglas, or that bull will stomp your head!”

Shannon placed her boot back on the ground.  “Is that any way to treat your better half?” she said, loud enough to turn heads.

Johnny stiffened next to her, but she kept her eyes on C.J.  This was part of the show—their love-hate relationship.  Dynasty Boots wanted fans to believe they were a warring couple—fiercely competitive during the rodeo then wildly passionate for each other afterward.

C.J. smiled for the cameras.  “You’ll never make it eight, Douglas.”

Johnny stepped between them.  “Give her some breathing room, Rodriguez.”

“Jealous, Cash?”  C.J. nodded to Johnny’s clothes.  “I see you’re dressing like you namesake.”

“You got a problem with my name, Rodriguez?”

“It’s stupid.”

“If you don’t have anything nice to say…”  Johnny smirked.  “You know…shut your mouth.”

C.J.’s gaze cut to Shannon.  “Is Cash doing all your talking for you, now?”

She cringed when she saw their images on the Jumbotron.  “Back off, C.J.”

“You think I’m afraid of a country-western wanna-be?”  C.J. puffed out his chest.

Johnny bumped the brim of his Stetson against C.J.’s.  “You heard the lady.  Back off.”

“Make me.”

Before Shannon realized Johnny’s intent, he swung his fist, catching C.J. across the jaw and knocking him backward.  The group of onlookers steadied C.J. then thrust him toward Johnny.

C.J. threw the next punch, catching Johnny across the cheek, but Johnny kept his balance and took another swing at C.J.   The shorter man ducked then pushed Johnny to the ground, where they rolled in the dirt.

Rodeo officials intervened and pulled the men apart just as the announcer’s voice boomed over the sound system.  “Looks like there’s trouble in paradise.”

Cheers and boos echoed through the stands.

Shannon stuck her face in C.J.’s and whispered, “You probably just cost us our sponsorship.  Happy now?”

C.J. walked off, rubbing his jaw and the crowd dispersed.

“You okay?” Johnny asked.

“I’m fine.”  She touched her fingers against the bruise forming on his cheek.  “What about you?”

“This isn’t the first time I’ve taken a punch defending my name.”

“If you ask me, folks, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a little love triangle between Shannon Douglas, C.J. Rodriguez and…who’s that you say?”

The Jumbotron showed the announcer conferring with one of the scorekeepers.  “Johnny Cash.”  The crowd stomped their boots on the metal bleachers.  “That’s right, folks…The Man in Black.”

MarinDid you spend time with bull riders, women in particular, to get a better sense of what their lives are like?

I’ve been to several rodeos over the years but sadly I’ve never see a woman compete in bull riding.

I studied youtube videos of female bull riders to get a sense of how they handled a bull, and I stumbled across a couple of female roughstock riders who’d blogged about their experience competing in a man’s world.

I also found some great newspaper interviews where female rodeo riders shared their experience competing in roughstock events.

Is there a musical soundtrack for your book?

Checkout my Johnny Cash Playlist on Pinterest. I’ve pinned his top ten hits from YouTube.

Will your fans be able to get signed copies at any upcoming events?

I’m sorry to say I have no scheduled book signings at the moment.  If you’d like to keep track of my books and activities please Friend me on Facebook and sign up for my Newsletter.

eBooks or paperbacks?

Paperbacks…I still love the feel of a book in my hands, but you can’t beat the convenience of traveling with Kindle or Nook and having several books on hand!

Favourite type of book to escape reality with?

Romance of course! Check out my Goodreads page for a list of books that have caught my eye.

If you could spend the day with anyone in history, living or dead, who would it be and why?

My paternal grandmother, Lela.  She died when I was eight years old and I never really had a chance to get to know her.

Her own mother died when she was three and at the age of 18 she became a nanny for the children of a wealthy railroad executive in Nebraska, where she met my grandfather who was stationed there in the peacetime army.

Of the many stories I hear about my grandmother the one closest to my heart is that during her free time she’d go horseback riding by herself, find a secluded spot and spend the afternoon reading dime romance novels.  I sometimes wonder if the stories I write are coming from my grandmother or me!

Excerpt & $25 Gift Card Giveaway: “Rockin’ the Boss” by Jamie Salisbury

Jul 12

The adventure begins…

Max Frazier may be a stunningly handsome international rock star, but he has other hidden talents from his past. Talents the authorities want him to use. Talents Max thought of as one hit wonders and wanted to keep in his past.

His smokin’ hot employer, Ashleigh Thomas, is unaware of his past with the S.A.S. Recently widowed, she yearns to bring the entertainment agency she and her late husband owned out of ruins, with Max’s help. Together they embark on a once in a lifetime deal for Max.

Will their mutual attraction turn to fire, or will it burn to ashes once Ashleigh learns the truth? As she and Max find themselves helping the authorities bring in a figure from Ashleigh’s past…will love trump evil?

I stripped down to the underwear and decided I would give Max a further taste of his own medicine, going back to find him. He was in the kitchen, gathering what he needed to prepare our meal. I quietly entered. I want some shock value on my side.

“Max, sweetheart, I thought you might want to see the rest of what you got me before I changed out of them.” I strutted closer to him as he turned around, leaving him no room to not see me.

Taking all of me in with his chocolate eyes, he twirled me around and then back to face him. As he wrapped his arms around me and fervidly began kissing me, his hands began to wander down to my behind. He pulled the thong to one side and made his way to my wet sex.

“Hmmm, I can see I need to purchase you more of these as you’ve soaked this one.” He pushed me gently against the counter top, facing away from him.

Pensive mature woman looking through out the windowABOUT the author:

Jamie Salisbury cannot imagine a time when she did not write. A skill that has served her well throughout her diversified professional career that encompassed public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, and special event planning.

An avid reader of history, biographies, and romance it’s only natural that she prefers to write  romances with characters said to be “so authentic they spring forth from the page and shake the reader’s hand.” No stranger to life threatening situations Jamie pulls from life experience when she creates her stories. Such as when her family had to escape Chile when she was a teen because of the unstable political climate.

Finding herself unable to walk great distances  as a result of  several foot surgeries, she started writing once again as a way to pass the time. With the completion of her first novel Perpetual Love she dove head first into the eBook and digital publishing paradigm. She couldn’t be happier with her decision to grab the publishing industry by the shoulders and force it to pay attention to all she has to offer.

Guest Post & Giveaway: “Breaking the Rules” by Melinda Dozier

Jul 11

Melinda Dozier dishes on sexy doctors:

The irresistible hero in Breaking the Rules is Dr. Colin Calaway, a single dad and an orthopedic surgeon. I always knew I wanted to write a doctor into one of my stories.

Luckily, Colin screamed at me from the rooftops of Harbor Bay Hospital!

The inspiration behind his looks is Chris O’Donnell in Grey’s Anatomy (around 2006). So what if Dr. Finn Dandridge was only a vet? A sexy man in a white coat and a stethoscope is an eye-catcher.

Here’s a gorgeous picture of Chris O’Donnell (Dr. Colin Calaway in Breaking the Rules):

(thanks to the simplyirresistiblemen tumblr for the pic)

Which other sexy doctors do you drool over enjoy watching? Let me share a few of mine from a long list of T.V. doctors.

Dr. Tony Gates (a.k.a. John Stamos).

(thanks to Wikipedia for the pic)

I can’t leave out my old teenage heartthrob, John Stamos. This man never ages and never disappoints. Stamos played Dr. Tony Gates on ER during Season 12. HEARTTHROB!

Dr. Ben Keeton (a.k.a. Martin Henderson)

(thanks to New York Post)

Ever since I watched the Bollywood version of P&P, Bride and Prejudice, with Martin Henderson, I’ve been a huge fan of this blue-eyed actor. What a great idea to have him as a doctor on Off the Map. Unfortunately, the show didn’t last, going off the air in 2011. He’s a fine piece of specimen!

Dr. Mark Sloan (a.k.a. Eric Dane)

I couldn’t leave out one of the obvious hotties from Grey’s Anatomy (next to McSteamy, of course). Eric Dane is one handsome man that I never tire to look at.

Even with all these fabulous, hot doctors, the one who stands out the most in my mind is Dr. Colin Calaway. Want to know why?

He’s incredibly sexy, with a swimmer’s body.

He’s smart – not just book smart, but common sense smart.

He’s funny and flirtatious, just ask Hope.

He’s an amazing father, who despite his busy schedule at the clinic and hospital, always puts his son first.

He’s a Yankees fan. Yep. I said it.

I’d love to hear who your top sexy doctor is! Leave a comment below so I can check him out.

EXCERPT from Breaking the Rules:

He shook his head. “I can’t believe we’re doing this.”

“Doing what?” She looked around, confusion in her eyes.

“Talking about the weather.” He scooted closer to her, making her back up toward the railing.

“Colin—” A warning came from her mouth.

He scooted her all the way back. “You can’t go around saying stuff like you did back there and just pretend nothing’s happening.”

“I’m sorry, Colin. I didn’t think before I spoke.”

He put his arms around her, holding onto the rail. “Sometimes it’s better to just speak what’s on your mind.” He lifted one hand and caressed her cheek. “Damn it, Hope. Life is too short to ignore the truth and the truth is that we are extremely attracted to each other.”

She opened her mouth, then closed it before saying anything. He was right, but she didn’t know what to do about it.

“Don’t deny it.” He brought his thumb down and touched her bottom lip.

Leaning into his touch, she said, “Remember we’re just friends.”

He shook his head. “To hell with friends, Hope. I haven’t felt like this in so long.” He placed his forehead on hers and leaned in more. Enough that she could feel his quickened breath on her chin.

“Me too.” She sighed. Leaning back, she looked in his eyes. “I know it’s not fair, but we can’t.”

“I’m not going to lie—this is freakin’ frustrating.” He scraped his hand over his face. “I mean, I haven’t been on a date in months, because I just don’t feel it with anyone. Then, when I do feel ‘it,’ I can’t do anything about it.”

She looked down. “I feel the same way and I’m frustrated, too.”

“Then why are we ignoring it? Even the tarot card lady said we should be more than friends.”

She rolled her eyes. “Oh, and she is a knowledgeable source to trust.”

“Just hear me out, Hope.” He stroked her hair, causing her heart to beat faster. “We’ve had an amazing afternoon together.” He pointed back and forth between them. “This is who we really are. You. Me. Hope and Colin. Just two people having an incredible time together. See how much fun we can have if we forget all the labels? No principal, parent, doctor bull crap. Just us.”

She sighed and looked into his eyes. “It has been a great day.”

“You need to just stop thinking about all the reasons why we shouldn’t be together and look at the one reason why we should.” He held her chin up. “Us.”

Guest Post & Giveaway: “Super Hot (a Superlovin’ novella)” by Vivi Andrews

Jul 10

Thank you so much for having me here today, Sasha!

(You’re welcome Vivi. I’m going to sit back and enjoy reading about your love of superheroes 🙂  )

Vivi Andrews pictureHi, my name is Vivi and I’m a superhero junky.  Superman, Spiderman, Batman, The X-Men, Iron Man – oh, Tony Stark, be still my heart.  But not just the classics.  What I really love are the superhero stories that take the established tropes and turn them a little, looking at an entire world with superheroes, not just one super struggle – like The Incredibles, Sky High, and My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

I love romance in a world of derring-do and epic battles – so of course I had to write a superhero romance series.  It felt like the natural choice, when I sat down to write the Superlovin’ novellas, that they take a look at real world romantic woes when the “real” world is full of superness.

What’s it like to date when you have to always worry about whether or not you’re going to crush your honey with your superstrength?  What sort of man won’t feel immasculated by the girl who can bench press an automobile?  That was the question that inspired Superlovin’.

In the second story, Super Bad, I wondered about the aftermath of epic battles. What happens to the girl who was manipulated by a villain’s mind control until she became lost inside the illusions that are her own super power?  How would she find her way back out again?  How can you trust anyone when your mind has been a playground for villains?  (With loooove, of course.)

But the question that drove Super Hot was a little different.  In my most recent release, I wondered what it would be like to be the only non-super in a family of superheroes.  What growing up normal, but surrounded by the expectation of superhuman feats would do to a person.  Would you become the world’s biggest overachiever to compensate?  That’s what happened to my heroine, Tandy Nightwing.

Her parents are super.  Her brothers are super.  Aunts, uncles, cousins – all super.  But she’s most famous as the Nightwing Dud.

Tandy’s found a way to be happy with her normalness, even proud of being superpowerless, until Our Hero comes along and informs her that she just might be super after all.

Eric Eisenmann grew up non-super as well, but became a scientist working with supers and always desperately wanted to be one of them.  When a villain injects him with a serum to make him super, he gets his wish – but it’s definitely a case of be careful what you wish for.  His newly awoken power is as an uncontrollable human flame-thrower – and now all he wants is to figure out how to turn it off.

I loved the idea of looking at the complicated emotional coping mechanisms of being normal in a world that expects you to be super, and the idea that not all super powers would be a blessing.

BUY Link for Super Hot

If you could have a super power, but you wouldn’t get to pick which one beforehand, would you take the risk?  And what do you think would be the worst superpower you could possibly be stuck with?

I’m giving away the winner’s choice of any of my ebooks – be they super, shifter, or paranormal romantic comedy – AND today only (July 10), Super Bad, the second book of the Superlovin’ series is FREE on the Kindle store.  Happy reading!

SuperHotExcerpt of Super Hot:

“Dr. Eisenmann?” she called again, loud enough for her voice to echo off the lab walls.

Nothing, save a metallic clank from the room at the opposite end of the lab.

Irritation flashed higher.  Just like a scientist.  So caught up in his own work that he can’t even be bothered to greet her properly.

Tandy strode through the disorganized chaos of the lab, mentally rehearsing the dressing down she would give the absentminded scientist.  She marched through the open door—

And every coherent word marched right out of her brain.

The man in the weight room didn’t look like any kind of scientist she’d ever seen.

Her first impression was of muscles.  Glistening, shifting, flexing muscles.  He was shirtless, facing diagonally away from her so she had a perfect view of his chiseled profile and every rhythmic bunch and stretch of the muscles across his shoulders and back as he pressed the weight machine’s bar above his head.  His light brown hair was close-cropped, not quite military short, but close to it—which gave her an uninterrupted view of his neck.  She’d had no idea necks were so sexy.  Earbuds were tucked into his ears and he stared straight ahead, firm bearded jaw clenched with single-minded focus as he pumped.

Tandy stood frozen in the doorway, jaw slack.  Ogling.  She’d never thought of herself as an ogler before, but Sweet Baby Jesus if ever a man deserved a good long ogle it was this one.

She should go.  This obviously wasn’t Dr. Eisenmann. Was he a test subject, maybe?  Here to participate in a super research study?  She couldn’t help wondering what his super power was—beyond the superhuman sexiness.  Oh holy hotness, what if his superpower really was superhuman sexiness?  What if he exuded some sort of megawatt sex pheromone that reduced every female he came into contact with to ogling goo?  What if this was just the contact high version?  What would happen if he directed that super sexiness straight at her?  Tandy’s knees went weak at the thought and a little whimper escaped her lips.

He didn’t notice, just kept pumping away, music still blasting away in his ears.  Get a grip, Tandy. You have a boyfriend.  Though at the moment she was having a hard time remembering her own name, let alone her boyfriend’s.

With a muted clink, Super Hot let the weights settle gently back on top of one another, his reps complete.  He stretched for a towel, rubbing at the gleaming sweat on his chest as he straightened to his full—impressive—height and turned—

To stare right at Tandy.

A pair of eerie amber eyes almost glowed, stunningly vivid in his tan face, blazing at her with an instant and startling rage. She froze, classic deer-in-headlights style.  Super Sexy was pissed.

The temperature in the room shot up and she actually hallucinated flickers of different colored fire dancing in the air out of her peripheral vision, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away from Super Hot’s livid face.  He snatched up a T-shirt draped over the treadmill and jerked the earbuds from his ears.  She dimly heard the music blaring from them as he stalked toward her.  Barefoot.  There was no reason why that should strike her as so insanely erotic, so intimate, but damn if her mouth didn’t go dry at the slap of his feet as he approached, bearing down on her, gold eyes blazing…   Hot damn.

“How the hell did you get in here?” he barked. “This is a restricted area.”

A wise woman would retreat.  Tandy knew better than most precisely how stupid it was to get into a pissing match with an unknown super.  But she was also a Nightwing—even if she didn’t have a power to her name—and never let them see you quake was practically a family motto.  So she tipped back her chin and stood her ground, drawing around her the Hardass CEO persona she’d perfected for whenever she was feeling weak or insecure.

Nightwings did not admit weakness and Tandy wasn’t about to betray any hint of vulnerability here, of all places.  Trident fucking Labs.  Where all she’d ever been was one giant weakness.  One giant lack of superness.  She’d stand her ground if it killed her.  And from the look in Super Hot’s eyes, it just might.

Guest Post & $10 GC Giveaway: “The Seen Trilogy” by Cynthia Sax

SEEN Banner 1

Cynthia Sax on The Appeal Of Voyeurism:

In He Watches Me, Blaine is the voyeur to Anna’s exhibitionist. He watches as Anna skinny dips in his pool and cavorts in his backyard. He doesn’t touch her. It is enough for this sexy billionaire to watch her, to focus on her, to orchestrate their encounters.

Blaine has other reasons for not touching Anna. He wants to earn her trust and to savor each stage of their relationship. But he also truly enjoys watching. He kisses with his eyes open. He installs cameras in his backyard. He has mirrors in his bedroom.

Voyeurism is a very common kink. Watching an adult movie (or some episodes of Game of Thrones) is voyeurism. Going to a strip club is voyeurism. If you read erotic romance (and I hope you do as this is what I love to write), you’re a sexual voyeur. You’re reading about other people having sex. Much of the content on the internet is voyeuristic and when media people say ‘sex sells,” what they’re really saying is ‘voyeurism sells.’

Voyeurism doesn’t have to be visual or written. There’s also aural voyeurism. This could be as simple as wanting to hear in graphic sexy detail what a lover is wearing or what your friend did with that hunk she met in the club last night or what your favorite movie star did with that tub of whipped cream.

One of the great things about voyeurism is, when done in a safe way, voyeurism is low stress. Voyeurs can relax. They don’t have to do anything except watch or listen or read. There’s little personal risk because often the people or characters being watched or heard or read about have sanctioned the voyeurism. Actors and actresses want to be seen. Writers want their erotic romances to be read. Anna wants to be watched by Blaine.

Voyeurism is also often how we can learn about sex in a non-threatening way. By reading erotic romances and watching adult movies, we can learn about what other people are doing without becoming involved with these other people or actually performing the acts ourselves. I often joke that voyeurism takes the monotonous out of monogamy.

By watching Anna, Blaine learns exactly how to please her. When he DOES touch her (in He Touches Me), there’s no guessing about what she likes. She has shown him and he has certainly paid close attention.

What is the craziest voyeuristic thing you’ve heard about or done? Has being a voyeur (and we’ll ALL voyeurs in some way) helped your relationship?

Excerpt & $9 Amazon GC Giveaway: ” Legacy Reborn” (Halo Legacy) by Genie Gabriel

Jul 9

An attorney devoted to social causes and a burned out women’s advocate help save their home town while struggling not to fall in love. However, an unintended pregnancy and a gift from the heart lead them on a journey to new possibilities and love.

As the sun stretched its morning rays gently over the farm, Phoenix rose quietly and walked onto the newly constructed deck. Tears misted her eyes once again.

“Do you like it?” CJ asked quietly.

Phoenix turned to stare at the man standing several feet away from her. The man she was going to marry today.

She couldn’t speak, but simply nodded and held out her hand to him.

CJ took her hand and led her to stand in front of the sliding glass doors that enclosed the deck, making it a cozy retreat with a fire burning in the outdoor fireplace.

“You have blisters on your hands.” Phoenix turned CJ’s hands up and looked at the palms.

“Love blisters.”

Phoenix laughed as she shook her head. “I’m sure I have some ointment I’ve used for the llamas that will help those.”

“I don’t want to upset Romeo by using all his ointment.”

CJ and Phoenix laughed together, then lapsed into silence. After a moment, CJ asked, “Are you okay with getting married?”

Slowly, Phoenix nodded. “I still can’t quite believe something so beautiful has come into my life. Then all the old fears and doubts start crowding into my head. But my ‘sisters’ helped me see love is a gift we should treasure and not a regret we passed up.”

Turning his palms up, Phoenix kissed the blisters on CJ’s hands. One by one.

I’m an optimist whose rose-colored glasses have bent frames and cracked lenses. When life kicks me in the teeth, I find miracles and lessons I refused to learn an easier way. In fact, I live with a small herd of miracles in the furry forms of dogs, who are constantly trying to teach me to forgive, to play more, and to love without limits.

I write about people who find courage and integrity in the darkest times of their lives, who rescue stray dogs and kittens, who find a person they would willingly give their lives for, and who make their little corners of the world a better place. People have remarked my stories “aren’t what they expected.” With rose-colored glasses firmly in place, I take that as a compliment.

I invite you to share a piece of my world in the pages of a book, and hope you find some surprises, some tears, some laughter, and always a happy ending.

Beyond The Page & Giveaway: “Once Is Never Enough” by Mira Lyn Kelly

Jul 8
OINE cover
The one and only Mira Lyn Kelly has stopped by CABR today 🙂
I hope you enjoy her interview as much as I did.
Be sure to enter the giveaway too.

If you had to describe your book, ONCE IS NEVER ENOUGH, to someone on Twitter, what would you say?

LOL, Okay, so in 140 characters or less? It’s a flirty, sexy, fun, #Lovers2Friends2Lovers #MistakenIdentity #1Night2SomethingMore #BFF’sBrother #RecoveringBadBoy #ContRom 🙂

What inspired the plot in this book?

I’ve always been a sucker for friends-to-lovers stories—probably because it’s one of the themes in my own HEA, and I know firsthand what it’s like to risk an incredible friendship for the potential of something more. It’s hard to do! Even more so when the risk extends to the dynamic of a whole group of friends.

And that was the idea I was playing with when I started ONCE IS NEVER ENOUGH.

What if this hero and heroine came together unaware of the connection they already shared—one that was going to throw them together again and again? In OINE, that connection is Maeve, Garrett’s little sister and Nichole’s best friend. She’s the relationship they don’t want to risk, the reason they become friends, and the excuse they have to stop using when the chemistry between them proves too hot to fight!

Tell us about your favourite scene to write?

My favorite scene to write…just one??

But there were SO MANY scenes where I was giggling or cackling or tearing up at my keyboard as I hammered them out.

Okay… what if I pick just… two, lol?? (Sheesh, and normally I’m such a rule follower!)

First, the opening scene to the story with Nichole and Maeve at lunch…

“So you take your reckless adventuring like you take your coffee: lukewarm and watered down?”

Nichole Daniels stared first at the shu mai being jabbed in dumpling accusation from across their small table, and then at the gleaming blue eyes centering her best friend’s face beyond. “Hypothetical reckless adventuring. And, for clarification, I want to enjoy my coffee. Not get hurt by it. So I take it hot, but not scalding. I like it brewed strong, but cut with something creamy to avoid heartburn.”

Maeve snorted. “You cut it with skim milk. Cripes! The whole point of this was to embrace the no-consequences element of a fantasy we weren’t planning to live out. I mean, seriously, I don’t want to be trapped on a deserted island at all. And if I actually was, I’d hope it would be with some kind of mechanical genius who played survival games of the non-cannibal variety in his spare time. But for the purpose of this chatty lunchtime game girlfriends play…in a context separate from reality…for one single night without consequences maybe you’d want something robust…rich… Oh, my God…something topped with whipped cream!”

“Enough, enough.” Nichole laughed, cutting into Maeve’s ramping excitement before the whole restaurant started staring at them. “I get the concept. Honestly, I’m just not interested.”

Maeve narrowed her eyes. “It’s a fantasy. How can you not be interested?”

Echoes of a distant conversation teased through Nichole’s mind—accusations and blame, heartbreak and humiliation, and the fantasy she’d bet her future on revealed for the nightmare it was. Everything she’d lost. Everyone.

She’d been down that road. Twice already. No thanks for a third.

It didn’t pay to pretend. Not even over a dim sum lunch with her best friend.

“I’m just not,” she managed through a stiff smile.

“Hence your overnight-on-a-deserted-island order for a male of unspecified looks who’s safe, honest and can keep up his end of a conversation.” Another jab of the chopsticks. “Lame.”

“Not lame. Maybe my reality is everything I want it to be. How about that? I’ve got a kickass career, a button-cute place in a cool neighborhood and the greatest friends in the world,” she said, batting her eyes at the best of them. “What more could a girl ask for?”

“Do you want me to start down at the toes or up at the head… Or should I just start in the middle, ’cause that region might make my point a little faster.”

“None of the above! Now, stop taunting me with your dumpling or I’m going to eat it.”

Maeve snapped her chopsticks back, popping the shrimp bundle into her mouth with a grin. On finishing the bite, though, her look became more contemplative than teasing. “I’m serious, Nikki. It’s been three years. Don’t you ever get lonely?”

Nichole stared back, the word no poised on her tongue. Only as the seconds stretched, the single word that was the lie she’d been telling herself for all too long suddenly wouldn’t form.

And my second favourite scene – after fighting an overwhelming chemistry for weeks, Garrett’s restraint has just snapped…

Another whimper. Another reckless pant of his name.

Another thrust of his tongue into her waiting mouth.

All that mattered was this. More. Easing the almost painful clench of need so deep inside her.

And then the hand in her hair slipped free. Her head came up and in a daze she met the blue flame of Garrett’s eyes…tried to close the distance between them he had opened. She reached for his shoulder, his hair. Leaned in to his kiss, getting less than a taste before he broke away again.

Too much. She’d gone too far again. Gotten carried away—

Except he had her hand in his. The muscle in his jaw was jumping as he raked his other hand through the hair that was standing up in a guilty mess. “There’s got to be a back way out of here. Let’s go. I think I can make it to my car.”

The haze of arousal cleared further and Nichole looked around, stunned to find herself in this state of reckless abandon in the back hall of a coffee house. Oh, God. Mistake!

“Garrett, I can’t.”

He nodded, shoved his hand through his hair again and then grabbed her hips and lifted her up against him in a move so swift and deft she had her legs wrapped around his waist before she’d even realized what was happening.

No, this she had to stop—and fast. Because Garrett was carrying her up the last stairs, groaning some kind of agreement that neither could he. And then her back was against the wall and his hips were rocking against the needy spot between her legs that made her stupid in ways she could never have imagined prior to meeting him.

“Garrett,” she gasped when his mouth closed over her neck.

And that totally hadn’t come out the way it had been supposed to. But before she could even think about where she’d gone wrong with that one single critical word, the sensual, disorienting fog was descending again. Rolling in thicker with each flick of his tongue…

If your were offered a TV or movie deal, which would you choose and why? Who would play your characters?

Movie, because I love the HEA resolution at the end. I love a good TV series (Lost, Friends, and The Walking Dead are among my faves), but when it comes to romance…I want the complete package in one sitting, and I’d like it wrapped up with a spectacular bow please!

SOooo… Henry Cavill would play Garrett—who’s got a sexy mess of dark brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes and is built like he pounds rocks for a living…because, before he took over the company, he did 🙂

And Amy Andrews would play Nichole. I KNOW it’s a rip from the casting of MAN OF STEEL (which I can’t wait to see, BTW!) but it’s just so perfect! Amy Andrews has that gorgeous spill of red hair and that girl-next-door smile and… really, they would be a perfect fit, lol!

Pantser or plotter?

Sort of a frustrating, unreliable combination of both, lol.

Chocolate or fruits?

Chocolate. Always.

Ideal getaway?

I’ve got about a trillion getaway fantasies, lol, and anyone who catches my “wish-I-was-writing-from-here” Facebook posts, knows they vary widely. But with my Chicago set story fresh on the shelves and in my mind, I’ve been wishing for a weekend there with my husband (kids can come next time, lol!).

The ideal plan: bike the Lakefront in the AM, a little shopping and gallery walking in the afternoon, followed by drinks and dinner with my family (who still live there) at some swank Chicago hot spot I’ve never been to before 🙂

If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Brad Pitt. Because I totally think it could work between us!!

Garrett Carter’s reputation as a ladies’ man…? Absolutely right. A danger to her mental health…? Definitely. The man for her…? Not on your life.
