Tessa Bailey:

Last October, Hurricane Sandy blasted through New York and put my husband out of work for six weeks. It was a scary time. We have a toddler, I hadn’t yet been published and not having a source of income worried us both.

Out of that frustration and fear, I locked myself in a room and wrote PROTECTING WHAT’S HIS. I’d written two previous books that never saw the light of day. I was never fully satisfied with them. Never thought they represented my voice.

However, all this pent up energy and worry I had inside me writing PWH, I held nothing back. I let the words flow onto the page without second-guessing myself. I think it was the first time I didn’t let my hang-ups or insecurities interfere.

The result of this hurricane-induced writing spree was Lieutenant Derek Tyler and Ginger Peet. Derek is an alpha male with an aversion to the word no. He likes it rough in the bedroom, but hasn’t found the right woman to unleash it on yet.

Enter Ginger, a provocatively-dressed bartender with enough sass to choke a horse. She’s just stolen fifty-thousand dollars from her addict mother and fled Nashville with her seventeen-year-old goth sibling in tow. A cop is the last person she wants living next door.

The language is colorful, not just between two siblings trying to find their way in the new city of Chicago, but also between Derek and Ginger. He tells her, early on and in vivid detail, what he wants to do with her. From that point, it’s game on!

“Let me be clear, Ginger, since you insist on talking in circles. I want you underneath me in my bed. I want to be buried inside you so deep that I have to remind you of your own name. And I want those motherfuckers leering at you from the other side of the bar to smell me on you for a week afterward.” – Lt. Derek Tyler, PROTECTING WHAT’S HIS

PWH coverBlurb:

She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come…
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Tessa Bailey pictureABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I’m Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I’ve decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.

I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I’m still finding it, little by little.

Thank you for being a part of it.

  • What is not to love? I get romance, sex, watching someone else’s “life” from a distance, and I don’t have to feel guilty for peeping! LOL

  • Tina says:

Love the stories of HEA and alpha’s

  • Lori Meehan says:

To me when I read its like a movie in my head. I love LPGA males and HEAs.

  • Maria says:

Cool! I saw on the Brazen Bash last month. Thx for the chance

  • Naima says:

Tessa, that quote is hot!! LOL! I love it! What I love to read in a sexy contemporary romance is the emotion between the hero and heroine. I love when they have outside, personal things going on in their lives that they need to resolve, too. Aside from finding that perfect half of themselves, one of my greatest pleasures is seeing them become whole in their own rights. And of course the hot sex! LOL! I’m just being honest!

  • Cindy Hamilton says:

Sounds interesting a definite must read! Thanks

  • To answer your question, I love reading about modern relationships with their realistic obstacles, romantic entanglements, how the characters deal with sex (casual or not). I am also a sucker for heroes who are protective in some capacity related to their jobs, i.e. bodyguard, cops, military, firefighters, etc.
My friends have been after me for at least a month to read a Tessa Bailey story because rumor has it, her heroes are quite the dirty talkers 😉 No complaints there! Thank you for the giveaway!

  • How wonderful you put those anxious feelings to good use. This sounds like my type of book.

  • Maria says:

hi. when will know the winner? i want to buy this book. thx!
