I have three special guests on CABR today 🙂
Robin Covington and two of her favourite ‘Boys’ from her Entangled Publishing series, The Boys Are Back In Town, Lucky and Beck.
They’re here to talk about book two, HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION.
Welcome back to CABR Robin
Robin: Thanks for having me back. I brought a couple of people with me…actually they invited themselves along.
Lucky: Of course I did. Sasha really wants to talk to me, you’ve been here already. (He leans forward, his blue eyes flashing with mischief) Hey Sasha. What’s up?
~waves and grins~ Hi yourself Lucky. I see Beck is along for this visit. Hi Beck.
Beck: I came to keep him out of trouble. (He slashes his sexy grin and gives Sasha the “come and get me look” from under is longish dark hair) Jack sent me actually…he’s with Kayla.
Lucky: I don’t need a babysitter. I don’t know what you guys are worried about. I’m turning over a new leaf. No more trouble for me. Quiet life. Boring. Total snore.
Beck: Yeah, right. (snorts with laughter) Look, ever since Taylor got back into town…
Lucky: What does Taylor have to do with it?
Beck: You’ve been off your game, man.
Beck: I wasn’t the one who got arrested…
Lucky: I was just held for questioning. There’s a big difference.
Beck: Not according to Teague…
Robin: Whoa. Whoa. Contrary to popular belief. Sasha wants to talk to me. So zip it.
LOL. You have your hands full with these guys huh Robin. 🙂
OK, now that they’re staying quiet for a bit, fill me in on Lucky’s book, HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION.
Robin: HST is about Lucky…
Lucky: You see, I was just back home to live a normal life, go into farming with my dad and…wham! Taylor Elliott is holding me at gunpoint and wanting to have an affair and getting into all kinds of trouble. I can’t just stand by and let her get killed by that crazy mob boss…and that’s when the whole “arrested” thing happened.
Beck: You left out the part about sleeping with Taylor.
Lucky: That’s personal.
Beck: A lot. Sleeping together a lot. You guys spend a lot of time together naked.
Lucky: Look who’s talking? At least I know her name.
Beck: This isn’t about me. That’s book four.
Lucky: (looks at Robin) You’re gonna make him hurt in Book Four, right? Hives. Herpes. At least a stomach flu, right?
Robin: (ignoring them both) Next question?
I see I spoke too soon 🙂
HST is the eagerly-awaited sequel to A NIGHT OF SOUTHERN COMFORT. Can you read the books out of order?
Lucky: No. You want to read mine first. It’s awesome. Jack’s book is okay.
Beck: My book will be the best. Saving the best for last…
Robin: I’ve lost total control of this interview. I’m sorry. (She reaches for the beer on the table in front of her and takes a long swallow before answering). No, they are good as standalone books – so if you read them out of order, that’s okay.
Did you struggle to put down words when it came to a particular scene in the book?
If yes, please tell us about it and include an excerpt highlighting the ‘issue’
(Lucky opens his mouth to answer)
Robin: Zip it Landon. I’ll write a novella about you and I swear it won’t be pretty. Two words: prison boyfriend.
(Lucky leans back in his chair and grabs his beer, kicking Beck leg under the table when he laughs)
Robin: What I call “the staircase scene” was the hardest one for me to write. Only because it is the black moment for the book. I didn’t know how I was going to get Lucky and Taylor together and it was a gut-wrenching scene to write.
Here’s a snippet:
“Stay.” He pulled back far enough to see her face, look into her eyes and let her see that he believed enough for both of them. “I love you. Stay.”
The time between his plea and her answer was not more than a heartbeat but it felt like everything stood still. As if the universe knew his world was about to collapse and it wanted to spare him the inevitable.
She smoothed a trembling hand along his face, burying her fingers in his hair as a tear spilled over and rolled down her cheek. She was really sorry, he read it in her eyes, but it didn’t stop her from saying the words he would have given a million lifetimes never to hear.
“Lucky, I can’t stay.”
Do you have a playlist for your books?
Lucky: Oh sweet baby Jesus. She always has a playlist for her books. I swear if I had to hear ‘Drunk on You” by Luke Bryan one more time I was going to shoot something.
Beck: That’s a good song.
Lucky: Not when she plays it morning, noon and night for weeks. I used to love that song.
Robin: Okay, hot britches. What songs did you have on your playlist?
Lucky: Oh, now we’re talking. “You Look Good in my Shirt” by Keith Urban, “My Kinda Party” by Jason Aldean.
Robin: “Want To” by Sugarland.
Lucky: Yeah, I like that one too. It’s kind of my song with Taylor.
Beck: That sounds kind of personal.
Beck: You said talking about sleeping together was personal. I think talking about special songs and stuff is the personal stuff. Sex is …sex. We all do it.
Lucky: Not with your best friend’s little sister. We’ve had this conversation.
Beck: I don’t get it.
Lucky: Moving on.
Robin, if you were offered a TV or movie deal for THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN, which would you choose and why? Who would play your characters?
Robin: Oh easy question! Movie deal – to see it up on the big screen? Awesome.
Lucky: I would be awesome on the big screen.
Beck: Me too. In 3D.
Lucky: Not all of you. Please God, no.
Robin: I see Joe Manganiello as Jackson…
Lucky: Good choice. He’s got the big, looming and frowning thing down. Total Jack.
Beck: No kidding.
Robin: Alex O’Loughlin as Lucky…
Lucky: I can live with that. He’s got the same tats I do. Cool guy.
Robin: Teague looks like Jensen Ackles…
and Beck would be played by Jason Behr…
Beck: Good choice. I’m loving that one.
Robin: I’m glad we agreed on something today.
I love your choices Robin. Hope you love the photos I chose for each guy 🙂 What a hot cast that would be! Does justice to the ‘Boys’ 😉
Chocolate or fruits?
Lucky: Fruit, I guess. Is there another choice? Whiskey? Steak?
Beck: Chocolate and fruit. Fed to the perfect woman…
Robin: The Caribbean.
Lucky: I just got here. I’m not going anywhere.
Beck: Bed. With the perfect woman…
Lucky: Shut. Up.
If you could be someone from history for a day, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Robin: Jane Austen. I would love to see how she writes.
Beck: I have no idea.
Lucky: Me either. I think these are geared more for women. I’m digging who I am right now.
Thank you all for such a fun, fast-paced interview! Robin you have a great group there and I look forward to reading all four of their stories. 😀

Synopsis of HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION:
Some women are bad. Some women are a bad idea. The best ones are both…
A former Black Ops assassin, “Lucky” Landon has had more near-misses than a man should ever have. Now he’s out of that business and settling into the simple life in his small hometown. So the last thing he ever expected was to end up at gunpoint. Or that the woman holding the gun would be his best friend’s little sister and Lucky’s on-again/off-again lover.
Taylor Elliott is Trouble, and she likes it that way. And seeing Lucky again? Well, he’s been her dirty little secret for the past few years and everyone knows that secrets in a small town are almost impossible to keep. But Taylor has bigger problems on her plate. Like the local mob boss who wants her dead.
And right now the only thing standing between Trouble and disaster is a hottie named Lucky…
